Maybe the stereo will get a bad short and burn it down.

I laughed at the Mazda comments. There is much more Mazda engineering in Ford vehicles (yes even the EcoBoost) than most people realise. What's even more amusing is the times when Ford was struggling in the nineties to early/mid 2000's with some of their own vehicle designs and were sending customers cars to Mazda mechanics for assistance.

I've seen that truck before or one just like it. The grille is a style that works on some designs, but not that one. Custom jobs are usually meant to please one person.

The 3.5 eco is codeveloped by Ford and FEV engineering according to wikipedia, and if you go to FEV web site you can see that. But yes Ford and Mazda were in bed together for a long time.

Still are in bed together apparently. From my understanding all of their cars (not trucks), sans Mustang, that have a V6 are using Mazda V6's. More specific the Focus and Fusion. I'm quick to point that out to any customers I have that want to bash American cars and want to only look at Asian imports. Especially when they bring up Mazda, that's when I point out that Ford uses Mazda technology in their cars.

I dont doubt that, the Dodge caliber, compass, patriot are all built on a codeveloped chassis with Mitsubishi, so it really wouldnt surprise me that Ford still has contracts in place with Mazda, heck we still have crap thats built by Mercedes in the chrysler line up, such as window switches etc. Yes I work as a tech for a Chrysler dealer.

Pictures can be quite deceiving when it comes to vehicles. No way you can tell if this truck is done correctly, even though it's uglier than sin, or done complete shoddy.

Why trade it in though? Surely he could have recouped some loss selling it on his own... unless no one was biting...
