Brake pedal too close to gas pedal...
I have had this problem since my 2008 F-150 was new, The brake pedal is mounted too close to the gas pedal and if my foot is slightly off to the right on the brake pedal, it strikes the gas and causes the truck to accelerate. The problem gets worse as the brakes wear as the pedal travels lower causing the gas pedal to travel lower, increasing my speed. This is very dangerous during a panic stop and espercially when towing a travel trailer as we do. I have contacted Ford and they told me to contact the dealer. The dealer claims its Ford's problem to solve but admits its a problem that they are aware of. Any suggestions??? I guess its resistered letter and C.Y.A. time.....

I brake most of the time with my left foot. Only real time I brake with my right foot is when braking into a sharp turn. Other than that, I've found in trucks it's easier to brake with the left.
This is only in my truck. In the wifes' SUV I always brake with the right foot.

I think they're too close together also, but I wear size 14s... It sounds like your pedal is going to far down, have you bled your brakes recently?

I totally agree that the brake pedal is too close to the gas pedal. I always brake with my right foot and have driven and owned many different brands and models of trucks and other vehicles. I have never experienced this problem with any other vehicle than my 2007 F150. I have owned this truck for less than a year and have had this brake and gas pedal combination problem about 6 times now. Very dangerous. They could make a replacement pedal with an offset bracket to solve this problem. The brakes work fine, don't need bleeding and have used the height adjustment, but that moves both pedals at the same time. I hope they address this issue.

And this is how expensive recalls happen... *rolleyes*... having the pedals close is something that should be desirable..
And don't even get me started about left-foot braking... left foot is for the clutch, if you have an automatic, it is for brake-stands!

with hydraulic brake pedal travel never change....with pad use..oil get in place behind the piston and take the space. the only thing that go lower is the level of oil in the reservoir.
