Default Blinker Issue

So I have been out to sea and my wife mailed me saying that both (front and back) blinkers on my 06 Lincoln Mark LT passenger side went out at the same time. When i get home I am wondering if this is just a crazy occurrence that two bulbs went out? or is it a wiring configuration that causes this to happen? Does anyone know if this situation is normal? And what the cause might be?

My guess would be both bulbs just went at the same time.

My bet is the bulbs simply blew or the relay went.
