I am about to take possession of a 2005 Lariat in 2-tone White & Gold. I currently have a white S10/tan interior with black mats and a 2-tone White & Gold with tan weathertech mats.

I am going to get the Weathertech mats for the new truck as well but can't decide on the color. The tan is a close match but not perfect, the grey matches some of the interior but not sure if it will be close or yet another shade and the black is a nice contrast overall but draws the eye..

Your opinion please.

I just bought black rubber all weather floor mats from Ford. So far I'm loving them.
Btw I have the same tan interior as you.

Tan or gray. There is no black in there & a black mat would look out of place.

I always stick with the black floor mats, usually aftermarket though

I have the tan interior on a 2013 lariat and the carpet is black. I went with the ford black floor mats. Looks good.

Black because tan interiors make me want to puke.

And black won't look any more out of place or tacky than the pillow case on the seat or rug on the dash.

Not to be negative, just my .02. You did ask.
