Best way to mod truck to carry dogs?
Hello all.
I have a 1996 F150 standard cab w/8ft bed (got it recently - only 55k miles!). I have two large dogs (labs) that I need to be able to get into the back for long road trips and provide a fairly comfortable ride. Right now I've been towing a pop up camper with a 02 Subaru Outback (mostly because there is room for the dogs in the cargo area), but am at the limit of my towing capacity and would not take it over any serious hills or mountains. The truck is the obvious better option.
If I added a topper, sliding rear window, and a connecting boot, would the truck's A/C be enough in the summer to help cool the topper area? I'd also want to rig up a cable in there for both of them as well to keep them from falling all over the place too much...
Has anyone else done something like this?
Thanks
