Default Ever Regret Trading Your Truck for Anything But a Truck?

I'm thinking about getting rid of my truck and replacing it with a full size SUV. I've owned a truck since 1999 and am concerned I'll miss the utility of it. I just sold my ski boat, so I really only need it for weekend chores or the occasional trip to the hardware store. Any of you been through this and regret no longer having a truck?

I'll put it this way, yes, I've had the regret a couple of time. I really liked going from my F150 regular cab to Bronco back in the day. Loved the Bronco for off-roading, cold MN winters, etc., since my F150 at the time was stick and 2WD, but there was always that missing utility. Again when I went from my RAM QC 4X4 to my MazdaSpeed6. Loved the MazdaSpeed for what it was, and would have liked to have kept it, yet I still traded it and am now back to the F150, where I should have stayed to begin with! There are certain things where only a truck will do.

I don't regret trading my truck for a vehicle other than a truck but I do regret trading my '89 F150 for a '01 F250. I mean I'm glad I had the F250 but I wish I had kept my F150 and just put down a down payment instead of trading. I miss the old F150, it was real gem. I do regret getting rid of my F250 when I joined the military as well, it would have been payed off well before now. But it's all good, I have my '01 F150 now and it's a good solid truck.

Years ago traded my Ranger for an Aerostar which I traded for a Jeep Cherokee. Took me about 2 years before I was back driving a new Ranger.

More recently I traded in my 2001 F150 XLT 4x4 for a brand new 2009 Escape Limited. Had the Escape for three years, almost to the day, before I traded it in for a 2012 F150 FX4.

Regretted trading my 2001 from the day I did it. Rectified that situation as soon as I could. Girlfriend and I both now remember how much we loved the truck. As nice as the Escape Limited was, it just wasn't the same...

Done it twice now, I won't make that mistake again...

Had a Ranger, wife talked me into a Mountaineer (Explorer), loved the Mercury but missed my truck so I traded the SUV for the F150e Wont ever go back, may go back to a Ranger, but never something without a bed.

Traded my '05 Titan for a '08 Focus. It was more out of necessity as I was doing around 200 miles a day for my commute. I missed my truck every day, and it didn't matter what I drove, nothing even came close to the truck. Now I am back in trucks to stay, I will never be without a truck again.

I started off with a truck, got another one and then I traded my last pickup, a beat up '89 S10 for a Plymouth Neon (I got the better end of the straight trade). About 6 months later I decided I wanted 4wd again and bought a Blazer which I ended up trading in on a new Hyundai Elantra because the Blazer was a money pit and I needed something dependable.

3.5 years later I decided my next vehicle was going to be a truck because it was much easier to haul my quad in the bed than tow it with the Elantra on a trailer among other things. I traded it in on my F150 and now I dont think Ill go without a truck again.

I was thinking of trading my '04 F150 for a smaller SUV. Test drove one (Ford of course). The Wifey (a smart Woman) told me to do what I wanted, but she did not want to hear me say a month later that I wish I had a truck. I traded for a '11 F150 Screw. Very glad I did. My dear old Dad always said, "Son, a man needs a truck". Good luck in your decision.

Yeah, I regret trading in my F250 for this piddly little F150. It get's horrible gas mileage and can't tow squat. Worst decision I ever made. I may has well have gotten an Expedition for what the F150 can do.
