Hey yall,
just joined the site, looking for any help i can get. I have a 87 f150 with a 300-6 efi an it just wont start. It will turn over like a champ. Fuel pressure test shows 51 lbs KOEO, turn the engine over it flops between 35-45 lbs. but it wont hit. Pulled the spark plug to check spark, plugs wet with gas. plugs appear to have good spark. pulled codes several times an got 21, 24, 51, 52. (eec-iv system) I dont know if the ect would cause all this problem or what has happened. it was running so good. I am beating my head against the block, can anyone help???

If you have spark and fuel, what about timing? I am not very familiar with that engine but I have seen plenty of engines with fuel, spark, compression not start because the timing is off.

Years ago we had 3 trucks come into the shop at different times not running with that engine, all of them had fuel, compression and spark. We decided just for the hell of it to replace the coil anyway and it fixed all 3 of them, they had a bright blue spark that just wasn't doing what it was supposed to and none of us ever figured out why.

I had the same problem just last saturday. My son put on the new dist cap and didn't have #1 in the right spot. He had them all indexed by one.

When you pull a plug and look for spark, the air pressure is lower than in the cylinder. About 9 times lower. It takes more voltage to jump across the gap under pressure. If the coil has failed in the high voltage area, then when the plug is in the cylinder, the spark energy may discharge inside the coil and you will have no spark in the cylinder. Unusual but it happens.
