Default 2015 cruise control screwy

My 2015 F150 302A package cruise control is acting wierd. Sometimes I can change the tilt of the steering wheel or move it in or out and it may start working or sometimes if I hold the accellerate button down for a few seconds it will start working. Today it was working fine until I tried to deccellerate and instead of speed going down, it went up. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Mine the reduce speed button on cruise wouldn’t work all the time. I actually swapped wheels (added heated wheel) and the “new” buttons on that side fixed it.

I also had to replace wheel buttons on the 2012 I had. So that’s my guess on what the problem is, second guess would be clockspring.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking the switch but sometimes it will start working properly if I change the position of the steering column. Because I use the tilt and telescoping steering column all of the time, I am thinking it may be the clockspring or just a loose connection on the switch. My wife has been driving the truck the last couple of days ans she said the cruise has been working flawlesly, but she hasn't changed the sterring wheel position at all.

Mine was acting funny where the buttons may work and after it being set for X miles (where X varies) it will just disengage like I pressed cancel or touched the brake pedal. I took it in and they couldn't reproduce the problem. But since then it hasn't acted up.

I did reset the tune on my X4 back to factory and then to custom so maybe something got all wonky in there and a reset did it good. No idea.

Sorry to raise this from the dead. I have a 2016 F-150 XLT and mine too has been having this issue lately. Have not yet found a solution to fix it. May have to end up getting a whole new steering wheel.

Consensus is Clock Spring is bad. Seems it's more common on the 15/16 models .
