Appearance PKG FX4
Hey everyone, just a question on what everyone's opinion is on the FX4 Appearance Package and resale. Would it be safe to assume that having this package may hurt resale, especially since I don't think it will look cool for long? I was dead-set on on not getting this due to the increased cost, but I just noticed on the canadian ford site that the monthly is barely higher than no AppPkg...
In black, to me, it's the nicest truck you'll see. I also have many contacts of mine dead-set on telling me to get the 2013 Ram 1500 Sport 8-speed. For the life of me, however, the FX4 looks so much better. There are good things about the Ram, but I can't ever see myself in a Chrysler. I actually prefer the pre-face-lift Ram of a year or two ago. The current one just looks weird and rounded...

I like the appearance package but wish the damn hockey stick graphics could be optional. I'd want the wheels, and red stitching on the leather.
You could always remove the graphics I guess. Best done when its brand new.

Russ... yes , everything about the package i love, except that said hockey stick lol. And that's why i want black, since i think it shows that decal less than the other colours!

I don't have much problem removing offending graphic packages. The Sport decals on my 2001 F150 XLT lasted about a week. I like the combination of interior and exterior enhancements of the appearance package enough to order on my 2013 FX2. The FX2 decal and hockey pucks won't remain long. With the luxury/appearance package the f150 blows away any other pickup especially that Ram thing with the phony "hemi" engine.

They also have alcantara trimming on the Appearance package this year. I was wondering if anyone who has it can chime in - how is it? Does it wear well (in the time you've had it)? Alcantara is very soft and plush, and is usually found in high-end sports cars. I wish they offered the piping color-matched to the exterior paint. Seems weird to have that race red piping in anything other than a race red truck, IMO.

Seats
I waited a year to buy my FX4 appearance in black because I was unsure if would like the seats and if they would be durable. They are AWESOME! they never got hot and look very good, everyone has leather. Alcantara needs to be taken care of. Don't wear a knife in your back pocket or anything...The Appearance package is well worth some extra dough. the FX4 without it has gray plastic fender trim and an STX grill.

Those stripes are as bad as flames on a mini-van.
Why would anyone need or want the appearance package for an "off-road" truck. Makes it look like a street queen.

I actually would like the stripes if they were a matte version of the color of the truck. If it was a white truck, the stripe should be matte white. Not perforated gray. I also don't like the all-black dashboard, it seems too black and reminds me of a basic XL. If it had the silver accents on either side of the radio like the regular FX4 I could dig it. Other than those two things it's a nice package!
