Default Is anyone else having problems with peeling paint?

I know Ford had problems back in the 80's and early 90's with paint peeling off their trucks but is that a thing of the past or is it still a problem. Mine started peeling in the bed back in the fall and this weekend I noticed a spot peeling on the back of the cab. I talked to Ford and so far they say there is nothing they can do to help me with this because I have 98000 on the truck. I know that's out of warranty but crap the truck is not quite 5 years old yet, the paint on a truck should last a lot longer than that.

Mine is peeling in a couple places in the front on the plastic piece above the bumper. It looks like it maybe started from a rock or something of that nature, and slowly but surely it seems to continue to chip away. Is there a technique to fix these spots or does the whole part need to be pulled and re-painted?

mine started peeling under the hood, on the fenders. It is gradually working it's way up the fender. I'm hoping it will stop before it gets to the edge where it is visible from the outside. The truck is 7-8 years old and this is the only part that is doing it, and is likely from the heat of the motor over the years.

Reveal to us what you are talking about. Pics.

As for spot painting, that is very difficult to blend in and typically the whole piece/panel has to be re-sprayed.

My 96 F150 does not have any peeling paint. I know that all automotive manufacturers have had problems with peeling paint. The metalic paints are the most susceptible to peeling, from what I have heard. I have seen Dodges, Hondas, Chevys, etc. with peeling paint, so it is not unique to Ford.

My 2005 is chipping all around the bed right underneath the plastic bed caps as well. The bed is the only part of the whole truck that is having this happen. What it actually seems like to me is that there was paint adhearing problems along there and over the years as the plastic bed rails wear through the layer of paint underneath them, it allows these week adhesion areas to start chipping off.
