That's what the general consensus is. Ive read so much I'm no closer to a starting point. Ford said to replace the motor, and they only did a comp. diagnosis. I call bs. They didn't visually inspect anything inside motor. How can they determine that without even checking crank play? Weird thing is truck runs perfect.

+1 ...Cam Phasers. Do both sides have the noise or just one? How many miles are on the truck?...Altho miles don't really matter..Ford replaced my engine under warranty at 34k for this failure.

Just curious, why do they replace the engine for cam phasers?

You bought it like that? Thats a $3000 job at the dealer (cam phasers, vct solenoids, timming chain/guides, etc). If you are under any kind of warranty, make them repair it, or get your money back.

Unfortunately I did. At a dealer. I took it for a test drive. Didnt notice any issue at all. In fact the truck is in immaculate shape. Runs perfect. EXCEPT when I back in my driveway when it's hot. And I kind of have to induce the noise in the video by playing with rpms and shifting from neutral to reverse. I'm fighting with the dealer as we speak. They offered a Jasper motor and want me to pay $3000 for it. F that. I had the truck for a month. They have to do better.

I've heard this as well. I think it may be the issue, especially because it happens going into reverse. Unfortunately I bought it used...
