I have this same issue. Went out last night to get something out of my truck and it would not unlock. I jumped the truck and drove it for a little bit. Dead again this morning. I have a Duracell procell battery I'm going to install after work. I hope this fixes the problem.

Default Was it the ignition switch?

Over a year ago, I had the dead battery like the rest of you. However, I have not replaced the battery!


My ignition switch replacement fixed the problem.


Repeating, as fixes get lost in the messages.


Symptoms:


1. Dead in the morning
2. Charged and started it
3. Save battery warning
4. Weird dash light flutter
5. Dealer noticed chimes for key in ignition not working
6. Wiggle of the key caused dash on and off


Once the ignition was replaced...zero problems. Now at 22,000 and original battery. Even left the truck for two months while in FL. Started right up.


Not saying yours IS this easy..but it was for my truck.

I went out after work yesterday and my truck started fine. It also started fine this morning. I had the Instrument cluster flutter also. I don't think the battery is my problem either since it has shown no issues of not holding a charge. The ignition was the first thing that came to mind. If I can replicate the problem my dealer will fix it.

Not to make light of someone personal situation or experience but sometimes these things can turn out to be more simple that some may think. A new vehicle can sit for extended periods of time in the manufacturers storage lots before shipping to dealers. Dealers do not always fully charge a battery while servicing a brand new vehicle. People that unfortunately are the ones that buy these trucks that have short commutes to and from work may not realize that will not keep a battery charged properly. Bottom line is that it's a good idea to put a slow charge on even a brand new vehicle to keep the battery up to par. Just because a battery starts a truck doesn't necessarily mean the battery is in good condition.


I am by no means saying this is or was the issue with the OP's situation. This is only a recommendation for short distance drivers. Battery maintenance is one of the most neglected on a lot of vehicles.

Its now been over 2 months since the last time truck was in shop. The parking sensor in the ignition switch seems to have taken care of the problem of battery dying overnight so far. Battery has not died overnight since. Thats not to say that there is not several quirky electrical issues still going on though. Blue Tooth does not work at all, cant recognize a thing I say, dealer says they are waiting for an update to flash it. Thats been going on for over a year. Get lots of "Message Received" notices on screen when in fact there is no message received. Whatever, I will take that over dead battery in the morning. Its all too little too late in my book, still waiting to get out of this vehicle. All the past experiences have left a permanent scar on me and my family. Still waiting on the results of my Lemon Law case with attorney, its been 8 months now. Hear very little now from them, last correspondence was about a month ago stating that a meeting with a mediator was coming up in mid May and that they would let me know of the exact date shortly. Never heard back about date and so far no word on the meeting either or if it ever even happened. This whole experience has been the biggest exercise in patience of my life. Hope it all ends some day.

Boy its nice to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this voltage demon of a truck I own. The battery will drain down to 5 volts over night my dealer is at a loss they have been throwing parts at it left and right with no progress being made. Please help

Default Mines doing good now?

I was having the same issues also but once the temp here in IL got above 45 degrees and stayed there it was gone. In may we experienced some "cold" weather for that time of year. It dropped down to 34 degrees one night and the next morning the truck was dead. I jumped it and the weather warmed up and viola its "fixed" again and Ive also had all of fords fixes performed and take the key out at night and un-programmed my phone. I say its a crap-shoot and when it gets cold again these problems will return. Still think its a circuit in the instrument cluster opening up when the trucks get cold after sitting.

Default Back at the dealer for a week now

The temp does not have any affect on my truck I live in Mn and it was jumped by roadside assistance twice in 5 days the first week in June.
Now I'm told they are installing a flight recorder in my truck for 30 day's next week.

Default Got cool and truck dead

The weather here in IL cooled off last week down in upper 50's to lower 60's at night and my truck has either been dead or very low on battery voltage every other day. Wouldnt start for my wife twice either. Called dealer wed.the 26th and told them it was dead. They said they'd pick it up. they lost truck for almost two days, Ford roadside asst. not dealer. Finally got it to dealer and they duplicated problem. All of the ford bulletins and "fixes" have already been done to mine. Still say its a bad solder joint possibly in cluster. Next truck is going to be a Tundra, I'm very disappointed with Ford and their ways of handling this!

I have not had the issue since I last posted on this issue. The battery was dead 2 days in a row. I also did not change the battery, so I still have original battery that came with the truck. I lock my truck every night with the key fob and have not noticed the dash light flicker.
