Default Aluminum Body Problems

I just purchased a new 2017 F150 last week and am a little curious how these bodies are holding up. I installed mud flaps and wheel well shields this weekend and noticed how much mud was thrown on the undercarriage in just one week of snow and mud since I bought it. I know aluminum won't rust how about the paint and dents? Just curious, thanks for any update.

Aluminum tends to have more spring to it than steel, so less likely to ding up, but it is also thinner so it can also wrinkle if stressed. There is also evidence that because of this, the paint tends to chip easier on large panels. If exposed to salt though, the aluminum will start to corrode.

The aluminum body panels are thicker than steel. The aluminum will resist small dents better than steel, but will cost a lot more to repair.

Watch both segments

There is a good thread here that helps explain it.
