Alternator Amps?

Alternator Amps?
I have a 1992 Ford F-150 flareside with a 302 V-8 5.0 engine.I believe we need an alternator for this truck.Can someone please tell me how to figure out how many Amps i need.It has air,power windows and power seats. Thanks!

I believe the stock alternator should be running about 80 amps. You only need to get a heavier duty amp if you plan on adding a LOT of power sucking devices otherwise 80 amps should be more then fine to run everything and one or two gadgets. :-)

Bigger is better, oops, sorry Blondegirl. I'm remembering 65 amp alternators. Don't even know what my 02 has. Bottom line, battery starts the engine and is the reservoir for power. The alternator is supposed to provide all the amps necessary for the operation of the vehicle and still charge the battery. If you want to be precise, connect an ammeter is series with the battery and measure what the current draw is with everything turned on. Just make sure the alternator is still kicking out 13.8-14.2 volts during the test, or the battery is supplying the power.
