I'll never buy another new vehicle, its not worth it.
I bought my truck 3 years old for $20k under original sticker price and lost money trading in a 4 year old car I bought new.

I agree kind of. The last 2 I have bought(going back to 2002) were 2 years old with about 20k miles. Looking back I got about 15k off sticker. I traded the 2002 on this 2013 after I got 12k off sticker. If you trade every 4 or 5 years, get a used. If you drive them to the grave and get a great deal, get new.

I was initially looking at leftover 2013's but haven't had much luck as of yet. Been looking in those mileage ranges for used pickups but keep seeing an abundance of Screws instead of Scabs. Have had my eye on a new one lately but the initial new cost has me waiting in case I can find what I want used.
Thanks guys!

If it were me, I would take new for $7,000 more over a truck with 40k+ on it. If you are talking $30k for a used truck anyway, I'd rather have something with no history than something that may have been abused or may have issues. I tend to be more ok with something in the 20k mile range. Then again, I'd have heartburn paying $37,000 for a vehicle to start with.
One thing I would suggest is to keep an eye on the Ford website for rebates or incentives. Factory rebates come right off the top and dont affect dealer profit and sometimes you can get a couple working for you. I havent shopped in a long time but I got extremely lucky when I bought my 2008 STX but I ended up getting over $11,000 in rebates and Ford loyalty incentives. That's kind of rare but I dont think it is uncommon to see a $2,500 or $3,500 rebate.

100% speculation here, but I would think in a few months dealers should be slashing the prices of the 14s that are left once the 15s start rolling out. If you can wait 4-6 months I would and see.

I'm also a big fan of used. I picked up my '11 XLT last month; 29k miles, "loaded" XLT. Saved about $8k over the best price I got on a '14, which included things like the quirky Ford financing discount and having to refinance it a few months later, all of that. My financing is 2.9% for 72 months, which is better than what Ford was offering.
I try not to get caught up in balancing monthly payments. It might have only been an extra $80 or $90/mo for the new truck, but in the end, after interest and everything, it would have been $10k or more extra I would have paid for the same truck.
