Default 5.4L Triton best engine fords made yet

I think the triton engine is probably one of the best engines for has made yet.. Yea its noisy, and people have alot of complaints about them.. But you know what.. That engine just keeps on truckin like the little engine that could. I probably see more triton engines than the new trucks these days since ford decided to stick wit it for so many years and im my opinion its actually one of the best engines they have ever made..

Ha hahahaha

The triton is a boat anchor compared to the 5.0.

Why is it, the engine we own is the best engine ever made? I'm serious, the SBC is most likely the "best engine ever made" but it takes like 50 years to get to that conclusion. It takes a lot more than "it just keeps on truckin" than determining if it stands the test of time. It takes things like acceptance by the aftermarket community, recalls for defects, length of production time, etc. BTW, if you only use those last three items, the "triton" engine series loses out, right out of the box. If you are only talking Ford, The flathead v8 wins hands down.

I am pretty sure the 302, 289, I-6, 460 and 5.0 (old gen, since the new gen likes to burn oil, leak oil, knock and misfire) are better engines that the Tritons. I have 2 5.4 Tritons in my driveway right now, they are great engines, but not the best in a Ford has ever made.

I'm opposite. I hated the 5.4 in the last 2 trucks I had. First one I didn't care for and thought maybe it has been improved, nope still the same old slow, ticking, gas guzzler as the last one. I'm die hard loyal ford man. We buy NO other brand so i feel comfortable saying this. Like anything else it's all opinions. To each there own. Im definetly not a chevy fan,but it is American made and we all know we made superior trucks to any country out there. The 350 is one damn good motor and no one can deny that, even me!!

I had the last variant of 5.4L Ford made in the F-150 in 2010, my opinion is the 5.4L is a boat anchor compared to the new Coyote.

As far as most durable F-150 engine goes, that title is likely held by the 4.9L inline sixes.

I had the 5.4 engine in my '04 Lariat with no problems in 100K miles when I sold it to get my '11 with the 5.0...2K miles the 5.0 was in the shop with an engine problem. I agree that the old 4.9 300 cubic inch 6 was a great engine except for lack of power. I had a 302 cubic inch in my '84 F-150 that never gave me any problems in the 13 yrs I had the truck. The electric choke on the carb was the biggest problem I had with that truck.

Work on Triton engines everyday and you will change your mind. The early coyotes had some issues but I think they are getting the kinks out. I love mine.

Funny you should say that, mine exhibits none of those qualities.

The 5.4 is the biggest pos Ford ever built, I worked on them non stop for years before I left the dealer. Biggest issue was oil leaking head gaskets (due to broken head bolt passenger rear side) and blown out spark plugs taking the threads with them.

Like all engines there are exceptions but the majority are best used as already mentioned, boat anchors.
