2014 5.0 SuperCab 4x4

Factory 20's, factory tires... Can't remember size sorry
No lift, no level
No tune, no performance mods
22k miles
I get 17-18 on my commute to/from work taking backroads. Highway the highest I've seen is 21. I'm very happy with this mileage... I expected it to be much much less. Pleasantly surprised.
I haven't driven an EcoBoost and didn't even consider one when I was looking for a new truck. I don't have any toys to tow, so the 5.0 was all I needed. Gets the job done for me and my needs. Tons of fun and more importantly, no issues so far.
I haven't had these rattles that you mentioned in the last question.

2013 F150STX, rcsb 4X4 3.55, 30K. Never had a problem with it. 18 around town, 21 highway. The reason I have a 5.0, it was the only regular cab on the lot. Works for me. My son in law has 2013 FX 4X4 crew cab with the ecoboost with 55K on the clock with no problems. Drove it from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh, has a lot more torque than the 5.0. Averaged 21.4 mpg. He drove back 17.4, lead foot. If you buy a later model F150 you shouldn't have problem with either engine.

13 5.0 RCSB with 3.55 l/s
#1- 13-15mpg city depending on city conditions. 19-24 highway depending on hwy conditions.
#2- I wanted the 5.0 (more power than I need) AND my dealer had a truck on the lot nearly identical to what I would have ordered . It was a no brainer. But I would have considered the EB if they sold new Tremors for $23k. Lol yeah right. I got the STX v8 @that price. Only fools spend $36+k on a regular cab. The only thing I wish I could have done differently was find a 5.0 truck with 3.73. But for reg cab shoppers, it's a miracle finding one on the lot w/ a v8 to begin with. My dealer was one of only 2-3 dealers in the entire state that had a v8 reg cab at all. At least it didn't have 3.31 like others I've seen.
#3- no problems so far

1) I am getting just above 18 MPG combined after 10K miles
2) NO. I love the drivability and reliability of the 5.0. The EB is a little faster, but I'm not out racing people in my truck.
3) There have been zero problems with my coyote, and with my Flowmaster on it, you can't beat the rumble.

V8 only
I am in the market for my first truck and I have decided on Ford and I have decided on the 5.0. My question is for anyone who actually owns a 5.0.
1. What are the real world MPG your getting
2. If you could do it again would you get the EB?
3. Are the rattle issues with the 5.0 more common in specific years (what to avoid)
I am afraid of long term issues with the EB and really just love the sound and idea of a v8 thats always on (unlike Chevy and Ram with cyl deactivation) I have noticed there isn't much talk about the new 5.0 with the extra power for 2015+ and wondered if there were any other changes and or if the extra boost in power was really noticeable compared to the older 5.0

Too many spinny things turning way to fast in an EB, it's gotta fly apart sometime.
This is my 3rd 5.0 (302ci) 2016 SB/RC, 2015 Mustang GT (rocket) and my lil 67 Mustang coupe. Flawless performance, solid reputation. All 3 have flowmaster 40 series mufflers, true mechanical music!!
No rattle issues, The F150 runs smooth as glass....

2016 SCrew 4X4 w/3.55 and stock 18in. tires and wheels.......3900 miles. Computer says I have 19.4 mpg to date, but hand calculations say it might have a VW computer.....1 mpg less. EB never considered. I drive them almost daily and they go, but like others, I am not a racer, but love V-8 rumble and smoothness. The 2.7 EB will beat its MPG al lot, but the 3.5 does only by a little. V-6 doesn't sound like a real truck.

2011 FX4 Supercab 5.0L
42,800 miles.
Purchased new on June 19 2011 with 2.1 miles on the odometer.
Average MPG
Between 15 and 17 city (depending on traffic and red lights)
Between 19 and 21 highway (depending on wind and speed)
Consider an Ecoboost in the event of a do-over?
Nah, The 5.0L's been good to me, and being in my 30's I grew up in a time when a V8 was pretty much mandatory for 1/2 tons or bigger. So I live with that stigma in the back of my mind...Honestly, if Ford ever went exclusively with V6's for the F-150, I would probably look into a Super Duty for my next truck, but I'll be hanging on this one for many years to come.
Any issues? Knocks, rattles, ticks...etc...etc.
None. I have noticed the engine makes a slight ticking noise when idling, but it's certainly not a (knock) or anything obnoxious. At first this was a concern to me, but after listening to other 5.0L's (both F-150's and Mustangs) I've come to the conclusion that this is just a characteristic of the 5.0L and nothing to worry about.
I've only had two issues with the truck, A battery that inexplicably stopped holding charge at around 14,000 miles (replaced under warranty) and an Air Conditioner actuator that failed around 30,000 miles (also replaced under warranty)
Overall it's been an excellent truck and based on my own personal experience I can highly recommend the 5.0L to anyone in the market for a potent and efficient V8 1/2 ton.

1. What are the real world MPG your getting
Stock, I was getting 18-19 mixed driving. I could break 20 on a 55 MPH freeway trip. I now have a cap, carry tools in the bed and slapped on a wheel/tire combo from an FX4 and I'm between 17 and 18 mixed now, a little better on the highway.
2. If you could do it again would you get the EB?
On the fence. I like the 5.0 but I'm not really impressed with the way it tows. I absolutely love the sound and feel of the V8 but I wouldn't take much persuading to get me into an EB for my next truck.

My 2013 does not rattle.

I bought my 14 stx sport new, with the 5.0, I absolutely love the ride, stability and the overall gas mileage. I average 16-18 in the mtns. and 19-21 on the hwy, not towing anything. I tow our 28 ft Dutchman travel trailer, which weighs 6200 dry weight with no problems what so ever. I am getting 12 in the mtns pulling the camper. I thought about the eco boost v6, but decided to stick with the v8, its been around a very long time, and proven road worthy. I have owned every other make and model, this is my first f150, and wont be my last.
