Post 4x4 high not working

Just got a 2005 F-150 on the 7th of this month. When we test drove it 4 high and 4 low worked. The dealer I got it from did the inner and outer tie rods, but I don't see how or why that would affect 4x4. Never checked the 4x4 after because we didn't have snow. Anyway, got snow Friday and 4 high won't work in drive, but will work in reverse. 4 low works perfect. Changed the vacuum solenoid, IWE solenoid, today and still not working. My cousin was watching me drive forward with 4 high on and said he is hearing a loud noise from the front passenger side. Any Ideas what it could be and how much it could cost? Also, didn't get a warranty on it.

IWE or the vacuum to the IWE.. they could of either damaged it or the vacuum line while doing the tie rod ends. The clicking noise your buddy heard is the IWE at partial engagement.

for sure sounds like a IWE or vacuum line issue, except it works in reverse?
and low works perfect? if a vacuum line was off for any amount of time the
opposite side Iwe is probably damaged.
