You can't gauge titan sales off the xd, especially the diesel. It was only meant to be around 10% of total titan sales, which there goal is 100,000 units annually. Considering only high end models and only one body configuration has been released until this point. They don't seem far off there goal. The new warranty will help with the launch of the new regular titan.

I dont care what warranty a Nissan has, I will never buy one. These threads on here that claim Nissan this, Toyota that, blah blah blah are pointless. But if what Nissan offers by way of warranty sways you toward buying one, then more power to ya.

Finally saw one on the road for the first time today. Easy to forget they exist.

Also Nissan has done zero marketing for this thing. Hell, I wouldn't know about it if it wasn't for these forums or TFL Truck youtube channel really.

Not true. They may not have gone crazy with massive TV ad campaigns, but they have marketed it. Here in Texas they pimp the **** out of them. I've seen lots of ads for them here, dealers are pushing them and at the 2016 Texas State Fair, Nissan had a fleet of them on the grounds. They had virtually every configuration of the XD that was planned for release. Nissan did do one thing I liked. They had a parking lot reserved for trucks only and parking there was absolutely free. They'd run off SUV's like the Tahoe. So only actual trucks got to park there. When we came back out they had Titan brochures all over everyone's windshields. (Which didn't bother me.)

Fit and finish was nice, control layouts are nice. They've got a few really cool features on the trucks. There are quite a few things to like about them. Like most things it has its pros and cons. Unfortunately, I think it's downsides are too large to ignore. It's a pig gas wise and probably not that much fun to drive given the weight of the thing. It costs as much or more than the F-150 and while it technically leads in towing and payload, for the price you can just buy an F-250 and outclass the Titan XD. As someone above said, you've really got the worst of the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton markets in one package. The other problem the Titan / Titan XD has is that its ****ing hideous. Like most things Nissan makes, its an eyesore. All the other full sized trucks are aesthetically pleasing, the Titan, not so much.

You may want to speak to a couple of F250 owners before you start making claims like that.
You're completely missing what we said. Weight is a factor and helps with stability at speed, but it's not the only factor and weight can hurt when changing speed. F250/350's don't arbitrarily have weight added so that they can tow more, they weigh more due to a stronger frame, drive-train, and braking components. Even then engineers try to keep the weight as low as possible, hence the switch to an aluminum body for super duty trucks this year.

He said pretty much the same thing.

I'll chime in here in defense of Nissan, at least the last gen. I owned 3 of the previous gen,, which got very long in the tooth with minimal updates from 04 through 2015! Obviously that gen is outdated now from technology, style, power everything. But, the Titan was a great truck. 04 had brake issues, they all had manifold issues. I had no issues with mine, like any vehicle depends on what you get.

My 2011 Titan had NISMO intake, exhaust, JBL headers and Cajun B Pipes with an up rev tune. Let me tell you, if was loud, too loud, but an absolute screamer. That 5.6 is an incredible engine.

With that, Nissan totally screwed up the new gen, both XD and the gas version. I was done with Nissan anyways and always wanted to go F150. My F150 is hands down better than any Titan, but for it's time the ole' Titan was a pretty sweet truck.

Now that I drive an F150 I can't believe how poorly that Titan handled though!

Just my 2cents,

When the original Titan came out it was a monster. It was bigger and badder than the other trucks at the time. The V8 made tons of power and still makes a respectable amount by today's standards. The design aged well in the sense that it still looks decent today, and with a lift, wheels and tires they still look awesome. The problem is that the interior, drive train and features lost pace with the more modern design. The Titan came out to face the 11th generation F-150. The Silverado and F-150 have been redesigned three and four times respectively since then. As I recall, the Titan also broke rear ends when towing early on. I remember seeing a Titan next to a Ford ranger at a stop light and I noticed the rear end on the Titan was about the same size as the Ranger's. I thought it was funny at the time. I always thought the American companies offered solid trucks and never saw any reason to go to Nissan or Toyota. That said, the first generation Titan's and Tundra's were good trucks.

The Titan differential is supposed to be a Dana 44 axle, which is a pretty decent axle. But Nissan bastardized it a little for their application (like adding disk brakes) and ended up making it weaker. In it's normal stock form it's comparable to a Ford 8.8, which is still used in the F150's.

My Frontier has the same Dana axle, and I managed to grenade the spider gears with normal daily driving.

Agree, how in the world Nissan didn't upgrade that truck sooner is beyond me, I'm still surprised they didn't scrap it. Instead they released a "twiner" truck no one wants, fat, SLOW, and just plain ugly. I can't wait to see one at a red light in my new F150!
