Personally, I did go to the dealership and I did look at the Titan and from what I can see and read it easily compares to everything else out there but the real kicker is the Cummins diesel. I'd buy a Titan just for that engine....310 hp and 550 ft/lbs torque with a 6 speed tranny. Sign me up.
They are trying to be aggressive, but the problem is it's not working. They're selling around 1,000 units per month. That's horrendous. I think even the HOnda Ridgeline outsells the Titan. For comparison, Ford sells that many trucks in 12 hours A person has to wonder how Nissan can even afford to develop a new truck and only sell 900-1,100 of them per month. They must be robbing the piggy bank from the cars' profits to build their trucks.

And the Cummins diesel isn't impressive. Remember, this truck weights literally a ton more than competing trucks. That's one reason it's payload and towing specs are horrible. The Cummins is really slow and drinks fuel in that package due to the weight. In fact, one media review I saw showed that the updated Endurance V8 spanked the Cummins in two identical Titans...and did it for thousands of dollars less cost.

That's because it is beyond hideous. Its the Pontiac Aztek of the truck world.

I saw that too. At first thought, you would think the extra weight and torque of the diesel would make it the best light duty truck if you are truly towing 10,000 lbs or so. It probably wouldn't be worth it though, if you are towing that much regularly then a 3/4 ton would be a much better option.

Competitors offering better warranties (or anything else) is a good thing for competition.

The Titan XD doesn't technically have a competitor. It's not 1/2 ton, and it's not a 3/4 ton, it's more of a 5/8 ton.

There will be a new Titan 1/2 ton out for 2017 that will directly compete with the F150 and Silverado 1500. I'm curious if it weights less and get's better mileage, but I'm not holding my breath.

True.. and I think this is part of the reason it's sales are awful. It's got the payload and towing specs of a 1/2 ton truck from the competition, but it's saddled with the weight, low MPGs, and price tag of the 1-tons. Instead of mixing the best of both worlds, they accidentally mixed the worst of both worlds. As one writer put it, "The Titan XD has an identity crisis".

Would you like to know what makes a good tow vehicle.....weight. The ability to stabilize the towed load by resisting that's loads ability to push the lead vehicle around. From what I can tell you boys would put a 400hp diesel in a FORD Focus a call it a good tow vehicle because it was light and good on gas.

The Titan is heavy because the frame is heavier, the axles are heavier, the brakes are heavier, the engine is heavier, the transmission is heavier. Everything is heavier as in heavy duty....any of you so called experts starting to get the idea?

While weight helps, there's more to it than that, which is why the latest gen F150 can tow more than ever, yet weighs less than the previous generation.

Exactly. Weight ONLY helps in load control. It makes life miserable when it's time to accelerate or stop which last I checked were desirable qualities in a vehicle. Weight also ensures that you never get to pass a fuel station.

I'll take the F-150 any day of the week.

So that is your final answer and basically what you are saying is that an F150 will out tow, out stop, out accelerate and get better gas mileage than a heavier truck like an F250 because the F150 is lighter and that is what makes for a better truck. You may want to speak to a couple of F250 owners before you start making claims like that.
