Default 2017 Nissan Titan to offer 100k/5yr bumper to bumper

Wow. Just saw this from a friend on facebook. It would be nice if this could push the big 3 to up their warranties a bit (which have seemed to decrease).

I just skimmed through the article, but I didn't see anywhere that stated the 100k warranty is free with purchase of truck. I personally paid the extra for Fords 100K bumper to bumper. Fortunately/unfortunately I've yet to have to use that warranty for anything major and I'm at 91k miles in a bit under 4 years.

They're trying to do something about the fact that Ford F-150 outsells Titan XD by a ratio of 60:1...and that the brand new Titan is selling worse than the 10-year-old outgoing model....and the fact that the Titan is the worst selling pickup truck in all of America.

I am a vehicle, primarily truck, fan and was looking at Titan's the other day but the MPG was not listed on Nissan's site. From what I have been reading it is around 17 mpg so city would likely be somewhat worse.

I am not sure why the Titan's never really picked up more steam. Nissan makes a good vehicle. A friend just posted about a Frontier that had 600,000 miles on it.

The press release states that ALL 2017 models are covered.

17 mpg for their top of the line truck is optimistic. The reason you don't see the mpg listed is because they weigh so much that it is not required.

The Titan is made to compete at the 1/2 ton level so expect it to be equal to what is already out there and I would not stand in front of my FORD and criticize anybody else's product. Ford trucks have plenty of their own issues.

Nissan is being very aggressive in acquiring market share...they are throwing in a lot of free options in an attempt to get your dollar.

Personally, I did go to the dealership and I did look at the Titan and from what I can see and read it easily compares to everything else out there but the real kicker is the Cummins diesel. I'd buy a Titan just for that engine....310 hp and 550 ft/lbs torque with a 6 speed tranny. Sign me up.

They may offer a bether warranty, but I believe they are also a more expensive vehicle - at least when I was shopping. Barring major repairs I'm sure a ford would still be cheaper over the same period.

It all boils down to what you want in the end, the companies will play the warranty/incentives/discounts/marketing game all day long.

I would love to check out the diesel too. I am not sure why (perhaps they don't sell well because of the lower horsepower) but dealers around here won't stock diesels.

When my dad went to get his Ram, I was wanting to check out an Ecodiesel but there were none. Similar to the Colorado. There are a few Nissan diesels but those are running 55k+.

Nothing to get excited about since they don't sell many trucks. The new warranty may increase their sales a little but not enough to warrant additional interest.
