2015 Tuscany Black Ops or 2014 Raptor (or 2017 Raptor!)
Hi folks-- curious of your opinions on this topic. To give you context, here's what my situation looks like. We currently own:
2015 Explorer Sport (Family hauler)
2010 Jeep Rubicon (Summer hauler, drive-on beach vehicle)
2014 BMW 535i xDrive Diesel (My car)
I'm looking to either trade or sell my BMW for a Black Ops or Raptor. I'm a noob F150 fan and have made this shift because I'm looking for a vehicle that is a bit more practical than my BMW and one that I can throw any variety of gear in the back for beach runs, surf sessions, and general load/unload purposes. My wife's Explorer is the family hauler. Our 2010 Jeep is our summer fun, drive on the beach vehicle.
In the research so far, used 2014 Raptors go for the high 50's to low 60's, give or take a few grand depending on mileage. '15 Black Ops trucks go for the high 60's. And I'm assuming the '17 Raptors will command in the low to mid 70's after all the options.
I did test a Black Ops truck and with the 6" lift, it felt really high but was a great drive at the same time. It would be great to get everyone's opinions based on all the experiences with these trucks. Thanks!

To paraphrase Mr Wonderful,
someone should take everything Tuscany does, bring it behind the barn and shoot it.
I dont think I've seen anything good-looking from them!

Ok..i'm slightly embarrassed for even making the comparison. I'm a noob! Raptor it is... my internal conflict is to jump on a good deal on a '14 (don't see any 15 or 16's out or maybe '14 is the last year of production for that design year?) or wait for the '17

1st gen Raptors were made from '10 to '14. First half of '10 are 5.4s, second half had 6.2s as an option. Only you know your financial status - if you can only finance and have no $ for upgrades then I'd save up some money over the next couple years and get a '17 demo. If you have some cash now pick up a good deal on a '12-14 (stronger rear ends - 35 spline vs 34 and larger PB) and spend some dough on upgrades.
Stock for stock a '17 is the more capable truck - a stock '17 won't touch a modified 1st gen at the same price point (meaning a 40k 1st gen with 20k in upgrades vs a 60k+ stock 17).
All depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. If you're attacking mall parking lots, it doesn't matter what you do.

Personally, given the scenario as outlined, I'd buy a '14 Raptor and drive it until '17s are plentiful. As others have said, the Black Ops trim is just a way for the dealer to use mediocre aftermarket bits to increase profit exponentially. The Raptor, while lacking all the "latest and greatest" of the new F150 is still a great truck, and hugely capable.
