First look at the frame on the gm, I think it's covered in this rubberized coating stuff that peels off easily and leaves bare metal exposed. Ford is a painted frame. GM uses an ultra thin sheet metal, I had a 2010 gm before my ford and a pine cone (small one) shot out of my lawn mower and dented it pretty good. Then, after a windshield replacement, my gm developed a rust bubble on the roof, this is in early 2012 so a newer truck still. Warranty wouldn't cover it, traded it for a 2012 f150 that month and couldn't be happier. Look really close at how both are built and ford is the higher quality product hands down. I was a Faithful gm guy until my 2010 then started taking a closer look at things. Also gms torque management programming really sucks the life out of their engines. For similar hp ford will seem way faster and torquier if youre looking for a muscle truck, I have heard ok things about their new ecotec 6.2 tho. But in gm there is no option for a larger fuel tank either without going to a regular cab long box so consider that as well. I personally like to have some range.
