How silly is that idea!
It's a great idea. The steering wheel is like holding a cold pipe on chilly mornings. For two weeks in the fall I drove a 2012 Ram Laramie and loved the heated steering wheel.

It solves our dependency on a non renewable resource. Screw mpgs. It "saves the planet" just the same.

Here is a little reading material so you can be more knowledgeable on the topic before you try to defend gasoline. CAFE is in place to lower carbon emissions. E100 does just that....

Why is ford going to compromise the F150 to get better gas mileage??? I will say that 75% of people that have crew cab trucks would be totally satisfied with a roomy crew cab ranger with a turbo 4 cylinder that gets 30mpg. If it can have a 5 foot bed and tow 5k lbs, then i would trade my f150 in immediately. Keep the f150 a good truck for those of us that can pay for gas or need to tow 6k-11k and build a truck that the people could use!

I don't appreciate being talked down to. I'm plenty knowledgeable without reading your literature. I had no intention of "defending gasoline" I was curious how Ethanol was going to, and I quote, "solve the MPG problem". Because all it has done so far is create lower mileage while costing only slightly less.

You yourself said you weren't saying its better than gas.

I'm as environmental as the next guy. I got my degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Is running a better emissions fuel that yields less fuel mileage (meaning you burn more of it) better? I agree about the renewables part of it though. Everything else I'm not sold on...yet.

woah, you are saying pure ethanol is alcohol???? My mind is blown.

This was forum sarcasm, ethanol is alcohol. The only reason that they make e85 is so that people cant drink it

Again, all of this "apocalypse of the F150 as we know it" talk is a little premature and an over reaction. Just because they are trying to better the truck while staying within the parameters they are given does not mean Ford is going to produce a dud.

The problem with Ethanol is how we make it. The last I heard, it still takes more energy to produce than it gives back in return.

And we should not be using Corn. We should be using Cane Sugar.

Brazil does it right. We don't. Probably thank Farm subsidies for that.

I see Ford reducing tow capacity of F150 and pushing over new engines to the SD gas that tow heavy.. I see this new alum f150 the last of a HD version. my 2 cents

No - it's a strut that let's you open and "drop" the tailgate without it slamming into the bumper. These are currently available from third party suppliers, and are a pretty handy addition to the F150. I have one on my 2012 FX2.
