Sweet. That's the part they sold me. I'm going to do it this evening. Truck is getting two new tires, I got a sidewall puncture out in our pasture, so I have to wait until I pick it up. Always fun to save some dough.....

Jumpseat....would yours knock while adjusting or trying to adjust temp?

Yea it would make a pop or hissing sound. I actually plugged in the new one and the dash controls before I put the new part in to make sure it worked properly. Let me know how you get that back screw out and in!

Done. Opened up the old one and a few teeth were broke off. This is really fairly easy. The back screw is a pain. I went through the glove box to get it. Patience and this little tool...

jumpseat82, glad you got your heat fixed. My wifes 04 Explorer 4x4 was supposed to be a 4ish hour job per AllData to change the blend actuator. We got it done inside of 45 minutes. Special tools (and small hands) were required in some spots. Lol.

Good deal. Good to see you got it done. I might try to get that back screw in someday that I'm bored. You're right this is a pretty easy fix and a inexpensive part. I'm glad I didn't pay to get it done.

Guys, what year are your trucks and how many miles?

What is expected failure rate and when can I expect mine to fail?

I have a 2010 with 34k miles and it finally went out. Well at least I think it just went out. I didn't need heat until the other morning. The temp control has been on cold since April or May. I posted on here almost a year from today that my control was making a noise when every I turned it. Truck only had 24,500 miles then. I was out of warranty by 4 months. The dealer told me the sound wasn't an issue. Seems to be a common problem from what I've gathered.

mine went out at 9k miles on a 2011. I replaced it myself after work one day, dealer told me the entire dash had to come out, and needed the truck there for a day. I cant afford to be truckless for a day, my truck is my office.
