2011 F-150 switches radio inputs itself
I bought this truck new in Dec 2011, EcoBoost SCREW, off-road pkg. It has 82K on it, still the nicest truck I've ever had.
It's going in for service next week and I want them to look at a phantom problem, which they don't want to do.
I usually listen to the USB chip, via pushing the AUX input button. If I turn the truck off at a store, or at the farm, etc, when I restart it, it's changed back to AM/FM what ever the last station I had on.
I push AUX, I then have to verbally tell it to go to USB. Some days it does this all day, other days, not at all. The dealer says that's it's default. I said can't be, it gets worse as the truck gets older.
Warranty is up this year... I want to get everything fixed I can! It's also going in for it's second drivers door speaker. Also it's second trip in a month for the 4x4 making wild noises engaging/disengaging.
Any thoughts on the radio would be great, it's not the end of the world to just deal with it, but if it's a sign of a failure coming, I want to get it fixed now!
Thanks

Funny. I have the same problem with a 2012.
I normally use the AUX button. I have had Ford do 2 updates and no improvement. I'll have to try giving it a "talking to" to see if that helps.
Part of the problem with the computerized stuff, is that we don't really know how it is supposed to work. Only the guy who wrote the software does, and he does not tell us.

I had all them same symptoms in my old 13. Sometimes I could get it to work using voice commands, sometimes the aux button, sometimes the media button on the steering wheel.
I reset it a couple of times, sometimes that would fix it sometimes not.
Now on the 14 it has worked great so far aside from one time when I recieved a text right when the truck was booting up. I listened to sirius on the way home Next day back to normal.
I use USB2 for a thumb drive with music on it, it is tucked away in the glove box.
