Maps are old and most new phones do not work well or at all with it.
OP, I also have a 2010, a 5.4 Lariat that I bought new in 2009. Since I'm cheap, I never updated maps, and never felt the need to update software.

Then, last year, I received an offer in the mail for a complete update of the Nav system for $150 shipped, so I bit.

Two sets of Clarion DVD's showed up, 4 total. The first 2 were marked Software Application Update, and the instructions were that it be installed before Map Update. I have no idea what was updated.

The installation was straightforward, step-by-step instructions, but the upload took several hours. I think this was a major re-do. The 2 DVD's said FOMOCO Version 7.0X on it.

The second set said Navigation Map Update, same Version 7.0X on them. It includes Gracenotes updates.

The same time-consuming install, but I only had to do it once.

My Nav worked fine before, so this was just a new update and it still works fine. Just came back from a trip to San Diego, and it was up to date on the new roads both here in Vegas and CA.

But, for some reason, even though my phone connects flawlessly to the SYNC system after pairing it, it NEVER auto-connects the bluetooth audio portion ... I have to change to bluetooth audio, and then it tells me something about "There are no bluetooth audio devices currently connected. SYNC is looking for previously paired devices." ... THEN, it connects. You have NO idea how sick I am of hearing that ... NO IDEA.
I have a cheap $200 Android LG phone, and I played Pandora for 6 hours down and back. I did have to start it up, because I have 3 phones in the system, and the LG is not the primary. I did not realize that I was being so inconvenienced by having to do that.

Of course, if I paid $800 for a phone, I'd expect it to not just play my music but drive the damn truck as well. That's just me.

So anyway, here is a screen shot from a few minutes ago, see how that matches up with yours and go from there. Good luck.

There is an upgrade available (Gen 1 V2.1) for SYNC in your 2010 vehicle; it's a dealership installation only, so I recommend contacting your local dealer if you are interested.

You can also order a map update from our partner, HERE. Check them out: http://allthingsnav.navigation.com/

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

I am surprised! My dealer said there is no upgrade. Ford sync online said there is no upgrade. Ford Customer service told me there was no upgrade. You're now telling me there is an upgrade? When was it written?

I will check with my dealer again. Thanks.

Tom Terleski,

Your dealer may need to work with Tech Hotline for assistance with downloading this update. When you make an appointment, explain that the version available is 2.1. You can also allow them to view our conversation.

Keep me posted.

Just an update. . .

I installed the latest version and it had more features for sure. Texts began working and things felt a little smoother. Problem is, it will not connect reliably to my phone. It connects, but the caller cannot hear me. Sometimes I can't hear them. Literally have to reset or remove the phone and add it back in again to make it work. It basically is not stable.

My phone is a Nexus 6 with a pure version of lollypop (latest) installed on it. The phone is not broken and is fully stock.

Default working well after the update

I just did the update and my phone works well, and stays connected. The text message function works although a bit antiquated in the technology of it. But when I use google maps I can't here the directions on my phone or through any setting on the radio?

I had a dealer update on a 2012, no nav system. It did not help. System does not work the same way every day. Some days it can't find the phone book but can still make calls if I remember the number.
