Default 2009 Lariat VIN says FX4

My father passed away a few months ago and I ended up with his 2009 Ford truck. The badge says Lariat so that's what I thought it was until I ran the VIN and it clearly says FX4. Several VIN sites stated the same thing. Not that it matters to me but what package is this truck?

Chrome bumpers, wheels. tail lights, a chrome grill if it has it and wood trim interior scream Lariat not FX4. What does the title say?

I don't know what the title says. I'll have to check with the bank. My dad has been the only owner and he would have done any upgrades for sure. Here is what the VIN check sites say.

Defiantly a lariat, and that truck doesn't have a 6.5ft bed.

It's a Lariat. Does it have skid plates underneath?

it's a Lariat for sure ... wood grain interior trim pieces, no FX gauges, chrome trim, 4x4 sticker (not FX4), Lariat badges, rear seat fold-down center arm rest, etc.

While I can't say for sure, I have to think that the VIN database has the wrong info, and your VIN is associated w/ the wrong truck. The fact that the print-out you posted shows a 6.5' bed vs. the 5.5' bed the truck actually has is the biggest give-away to me re: the VIN being associated w/ the wrong truck.

Sorry to hear of your Father's passing. I know how hard it is.
He sure took very good care of that Red F150 for you.
I've always been a Fan of the White Gauges with the Black.

I have to agree,
It doesn't seem to have the FX4 Gauges and I don't believe Ford would have installed the 4x4 and not the FX4 Decal's.
I may be wrong, but, Didn't the FX4 come with Hill descent and a Transmission Cooler?
My 2015 Platinum has both. My 2012 FX4 did not?

My 08 Lariat Supercrew has a transmission cooler. Not sure on the hill decent part, mines a 2wd.

I would double check the vin tag on the dash to make sure you wrote down the correct numbers. They can be really hard to read and it's easy to make a mistake. If you did write down the correct numbers then I would check the vin numbers on the title to make sure they are the same as the vin tag on the dash. If they match then it is more than likely a data base error.

I joined forum to make a better decision on purchasing a used truck. I was directed to use various VIN sites to determine exactly what equipment would have been on some trucks I was looking at. I found all of them next to useless. I got lots of wrong info and what they were able to tell me was only basic info I could already determine by looking at the truck.
