Wheels on FX4
Hello, I recently bought an '06 SuperCrew FX4...at least, I'm fairly certain it's a genuine FX4. It has the FX4 instrument cluster, FX4 stickers, skid plate, and, when I enter the VIN on a cetain website, it states FX4...but, it looks like it has Lariat wheels to me. Was this an option, perhaps since it has some type of leather package?
Were these wheels available on FX4's on '06?
Thanks!

I'm not sure if they were an option or not, but it's always a good chance that the previous owner swapped the FX4 wheels for Lariat ones, or bought those tires and wheels together off of ebay or something. You can find people on there that will sell the complete factory take-offs if they buy aftermarket wheels and tires.

Those are Lariat wheels, which weren't an option on the 06 FX4, but, as SFCFX4 said they're an easy swap by the previous owner. If you've got an FX4 cluster, it's very unlikely that someone made a "fake" FX4.
The FX4 isn't just an option like the Chevy Z71, it's a trim with it's own distinct features. Here's the 06 Brochure for reference: http://www.meadowlandford.com/2006%20F150_brochure.pdf

ok, thanks guys! I have been looking for an '06 brochure online, thanks for that link Gator! If they were swapped, I wonder if the spare could still have an original FX4 wheel...I'll crawl under there tomorrow and look.
Is there a definitive way to make sure it's a factory FX4, though? Sorry, I guess I'm used to the Chevy way of looking in the glovebox for a Z71 code, but since it's a trim I guess that doesn't apply to FX4's?

your spare is more than likely just a plain steel wheel, and as for being a true FX4, i believe it is. it has all the trim of the FX4, i just dont see why anyone would go to that much work to convert it

nah, not really. no worries there.
Carfax shows it was a Corporate lease...I'm wondering if the previous owner/company needed new tires on it near the end of the lease, and just swapped out wheels and tires from a Lariat then turned in the truck. It has good tread left on the tires.
The dealer has another '06 FX4 with high miles just sitting there...I may ask him if he would mind swapping wheels.

When I got my Fx4 he had taken the stock Fx4 wheels off (sold them)and put aftermarket wheels on. Then took them off and put lariat wheels back on....so I was in the same boat....could have been a option maybe not....
