Default 2006 f150 cd player problems

My cd player started to have problems this week. When im listening to a cd and i go to like track 7 the audio becomes distorted and even plays some parts of the previous track. I took it to ford they said im out of warranty.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Im looking to just getting a new stereo system. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I had it the other day, when I started my truck, the radio was all distorted, and had very low volume. I turned the power off on the stereo, then turned it back on, and it was fine. A few months ago, I started my truck, and the stereo was very sluggish to respond to any buttons i pushed. It would take upwards of a minute to respond to volume, station changes, and input changes. I turned the truck off, and the next time I started it, it was fine.

Not worth fixing an OE stereo. Everyone I know who's had a Ford has had issues with playback and discs getting scratched by the reader. Ford radio $300. Better than Ford radio with Sirius/XM, USB port, HD Radio $250 with install.

Yes. My current one is a Dual with USB and Bluetooth that I picked up at Walmart for $110. Gets the job done. Before that was a Pioneer that was built for iPod's, which got swapped to replace the old Pioneer in a Cherokee that was built for iPod's but was still set up for firewire charging (which ended when the video came out) and wouldn't charge iPhones like the newer Pioneer would.

@yrdered thats a real nice setup. Im going to swing by an audio shop maybe tomorrow and see what they have in stock.

One more question
Should i buy it myself and install it or buy it from a car audio store and install it?

Do it yourself! Extremely easy! I do radios all the time. If you have an 8mm socket and about 15 butt connectors it should take a newbie no more than an hour. Get a wire harness and a din kit and your set!

I have been looking at that. The downside, I loose all of my switches hidden in the DIN cubby hole. Then the AM/FM becomes more expensive than my CB...which is not great to me since you can't see the CB and the truck never gets locked.
