i herd from someone that i all ready am wired up for trailer brakes all i need is the controller is that true? if so what do i need?

Your truck may have been pre-wired for the trailer brake controller. If it has, there should be a jack mounted under the dash, somewhere near the middle of the truck. You will need the wiring harness to plug into that jack and that will connect to the wires from the brake controller. My 1996 F150 was pre-wired and has the jack in the same place I described above. When I bought the truck, I found the wiring harness in the center console, so all I needed was the brake controller and some butt connectors for the wires.

your truck should have come with a wiring harness all you need is the controller. It should be in your glove box in a plastic bag......
