Default 1997 F150 Transmission wiring

Changing transmission oil & filter. When I finally got the transmission pan completely removed, I see this plug with a wire sticking out. The plug looks like it might be a sensor of some sort, as the plug itself is just attached up into the transmission with only a plastic push-in clip. What is this? and how in the world can I get the wire to stay in it? Looks like the end is broken. HELP!!

This probably explains what the wiring does, but it doesn't say anything about how to repair this broken wire in the plastic plug.

The plug/sensor has THIS written on it:

F1DP-7H141-AA

Could be part number?

The 7H141 is the tranny temp sensor, and I have no clue where the wires go to. Sorry!

Maybe I'm not real clear. I know where the wire goes. If you know what this "plug" or "clip" looks like, one of the two wires has pulled loose from inside the plug. *sigh* who sells the tran temp sensor?

I deal with the local Ford dealership on all my needs or questions. Suggest striking up a repore with them for issues just like this. I only use the wholesale parts counter as they are more experienced, Rookies with short attitudes work the retail counter. Tell them who you work for and want to buy cash ticket (not charged to Company). Wish I could help further.

Has the wire pulled out of the connector contact, or has the contact and wire pulled out of the connector body? In either case a quick trip to a tranny shop or salvage yard should turn up another good connector assembly you can then splice into the tranny wiring.

I went to Advance Auto and got some stake-on wire connectors. I cut the other wire that hadn't pulled out, put stake-ons on both and plugged them in individually. Installed new filter, put cover pan back on, filled with new fluid. The OD light no longer flashes and so far it starts and runs. I need one more gallon of fluid then test drive it tomorrow and all should be good to go! Not bad for a coal miner -turned shade tree mechanic!
