Default 1989 F150 Fuel Problem

300 in line 6 Engine is not getting fuel. Truck has sat for a number of years. I put a new center fuel tank in along with sending unit and pump. Should the in tank fuel pump supply pump fuel without being connected to the frame mounted pump?

I pulled the fuel pump relay and the contacts were dirty. Was able to clean the contacts but how do I clean the contacts in the harness?

I pulled the frame mounted pump for testing and it is good. I haven't put it back in yet.

HINT/TIP: You'll find posting in the
Pre-1997 F150 > 1987 - 1996 F150
section more helpful/appropriate than General F150 Discussion posts.
.
...clean the contacts in the harness?
Depending upon how corroded it is ...
  • electrical contact cleaner and a (say) pick.
  • replace the plug with an appropriate Motorcraft pigtail replacement.

*Afterwards, be generous with the dielectric grease.
