Here in the Seattle area we have a lot of stupid riders as well, but for every stupid rider I see, there are several good ones, because they ride in the rain a lot, and deal with some of the worst traffic in the US. But that fits the bill for the rest of society as well. There will always be a certain number of idiots where ever you are. The people that ride recklessly will learn their lesson in time and hopefully not kill anyone.

I have ridden bikes on the street since I was 16 and can say that most of my near accidents were due to people in cars being idiots. Take some of these for instance:

People not using there mirrors or checking their blind spots.

People hit the blinker as they are turning instead of using it as a turning indicator.

People talk on the phone and text on the road.

People throw cigarette buts and other trash out the window. (I've been hit before)

People not looking before making any kind of turn and pulling out in front of you.

People have no regard for motorcycists what so ever. (Unless they too ride)

The above list is the most common threats to motorcyclists and have to be dealt with every time one saddles up and rides. Motorcyclists are WAY more keen as to what's happening on the road then anyone else is (other then truck drivers). I don't condone speeding at all, but people are going to speed and I'd rather see an experienced motorcyclist speed then a kid in a car on a cell phone.

ouch, dont be so general dude.

you and i have talked, and i ride with MANNYYYYY bikers in our area, i promise you that the few morons will naturally die off... just dont judge everyone on a bike because a lot of us do race on tracks and have the experience to obey laws and ride aware.

you have to agree though, on the other side of the token has the bikers cussing out the self-centered, oblivious, multitasking dicks who cant look, or even think, before they make a move in their vehicles. it would be outrageous of me to accuse all caged-drivers under that generalization, and its the same for the bikers, too.

I get passed on the freeway all the time by these guys on the back tire. What are they thinking. I had one pass me the other day on the back wheel with a young girl riding on the back of it. What is she thinking? Does her parents know that she is out riding with this idiot? ...If I was the girls parent I would probably kill the boy that was driving.

That is a bunch of bull dude. I got pulled over in a car for doing 87 in a 65 about three weeks ago, it costed me two hundred dollars. The guy is on a bike which is way more dangerous than in a car (not to mention he is doing 140) and he gets off.

Anything is possible man. When I was 19 and being stupid......(Very stupid). I got pulled over doing 67mph in a 35 zone with a loaded .22 rifle and a 18 pack of beer in the back of my ranger. I got off with a 5 mph over ticket and handed over the beer. The officer was incredibly nice, but lectured me hard and...It worked. I was a VERY lucky guy that day, and have never sped like that again. I'm a speed limit kinda guy these days, and I'm proud of it.
