Default ? for you super duty folks

I was looking for some input from you super duty folks. I have been looking at a 2006 f250 xl crew cab 4x4 with the fx4 package. It is perfect for me with a Manuel transmission, rubber floors and crank windows. The only thing I'm not sure about is that it is powered by a 5.4v8 instead of the v10. Is this size truck under powered with the v8? Any input is appreciated.

P.s it has 122k mi and asking price is 12k. Appears to be in good condition

Seems like a lot. 06 goes for 10-12 here with a powerstroke and power everything.

I agree about the price being high. It us from a dealer. My main concern us the engine size. I know prior to the diesel hysteria the used gas motors in 3/4 and one ton trucks but I'm not sure how a modern 5.4 stacks against an old 460.

By the way I will most likely not be doing any real heavy towing. Occasional camper maybe.

from what iv heard the 5.4 just isnt enough in a 250. not enough power i guess. gas mileage i hear is a shade better then the v10 though.

its not a racecar, its a truck. the 05+ superduty's have the 3v 5.4L. 300hp if I recall. its not going to get you anywhere fast, but it will do the job just fine. a friend of mine used to tow his dirt track stock car with an 05 SD scab long bed 5.4. 3500lb car on a 2500lb trailer plus tools and spare parts and tires, 4 people in the cab. again it was far from a rocket ship but it will do almost anything you want it to do, as long as you realize it's not a diesel.
