Default XL grille, paintable

I have a white XL and want to paint the outer grille white. With proper prep will it hold paint?

Is that the one-piece grill where the surround and inner grill bars are all one unit?

As far as I know this unit is injected molded plastic with no paint or coating. Should be doable to paint with the proper plastic prep. For those with the non-one piece grills, you can purchase the grill surround as a separate piece and it comes available in "read to paint" primer. I did my grill surround and towing mirror skull caps all in body color.

I have not investigated if it is one piece or not , but doing a parts search at tasca Ford with my vin indicates that it is not. Although mine has no coating or paint that I can see.

You can purchase any of the chrome plastic parts in ready to paint primer allowing you to repaint in another color. Here's the skull caps and grill surround (top of the 2nd page):

You can purchase from Tasca or Levittown..

That looks really nice, with the Chrome Surround it is too loud.
I'll get mine done in Ruby Red, then add 3 LED lites in the front top of the Grill(spread out like the raptor), change the Ford Blue oval to the red one and do something with the Superduty letters both the front surround and rear on the lower tailgate.

I did a trial run with plasti-dip. I think I am going to remove the white from the inside bars, as from a distance it looks like a Chevy Bowtie.
