Exactly. I call them small car catchers.

Hope i never catch a car with them, though.

Thanks for the replies. I guess this truck will just be like the dukes of Hazzard if that situation ever comes about, because they aren't going back on.

I took them off my 350 and installed the shorter 2wd air dam. The original dam looked like a cow catcher on a steam locomotive.

Actually those are to prevent the truck from smashing anything too important off road directly.

They are called crash bars, they are there to prevent you from driving on top of someone's car in the event that you are in a collision.

Yeah they are ugly, I was also thinking about removing them and putting on the 2WD deflector. I'm not sure what the legal implications are in removing them if you do happen to get in an accident.....
