V10?

Hey guys im thinking bout trading my 02 SCrew f150 for a 99 F250. It is the v10 with 158,000 miles. Any problems engine wise to be leary of? Thanks

The V10s are great engines. If its been well maintained it should be good to go. If its been abused I would steer clear. Sometimes it's hard to tell how a vehicle has been treated. I have been burned by buying a previously abused vehicle and it was not fun. You may want to have a trusted mechanic look it over before you commit. Good luck.

I think that's a down grade. Don't go v10

I wouldn't do it, unless you need the v10. If you need the v10 I'd look to trade for a 7.3 instead of the v10.

We switched to v10s from the 7.3 when diesel first hit 4 dollars a gallon. The mpg was terrible and not quite the pulling power of the 7.3. We also started having a lot of trouble with them after 180k and most crapped out around 200ish. After 6 months we started replacing trucks again with diesels.

I'm actually surprised about that. I know people with 7.3s and that's the only truck they'll buy and they love the mpg, even with the upgrades under the hood.

one problem: it's gas ;). LOL.

in a superduty, I'd seriously advise the diesel myself.

Well I love the truck so far. Besides the usual broken exhaust studs, it runs like a top. Gets awesome gas mileage. (See below lol)
