I traded my 2011 f150 Ecoboost with 4" lift and 35s for a 2015 F250 6.2 that I lifted 2" and 35s from day one. I owned it 3 months and traded it back in for a new 2014 f150 ecoboost!!!! The ecoboost pulls better than the 6.2 did. I pulled my 22' fourwinns boat from Texas back to Kansas and got about 8mpg running 65 and was in 5th gear most of the time and down to 4th and 3rd a few times on some small hills!!!! the truck didn't really struggle but the power of the 6.2 is definitely in a higher rpm range. I also pull a gooseneck with my f150 ecoboost, and with the same results, the ecoboost out performs the 6.2 all day!!!! Yes the physical truck handles the weight better, but power wise is no comparison. As for the diesel, I don't pull everyday and for the $8000 option over the 6.2 plus double to triple maintenance costs. A 6.7 was not even considered.

I can't blame you, I experienced the same issues. I honestly think the trans shifting is more to do with tuning though. I think the torque convertor should stay locked and don't down shift as much. To me it always shifted up and down at the wrong time, drove me nuts.

The SD 6.2L for me outshines the F150 5.0L, can't say what the ecoboost F150 would do. Having a 6.2L in a SD is not a bad thing, the heavier frame, better brakes and the feel of a SD is in my opinion is a winner.
Yes, the 6.2L is a higher rev engine, designed to be, I can run all day at 4500 rpm's if I need to but seldom do, mine tows excellent and stays under 4K rpm's, having the 4.30 gears is a plus. If hunting through the two higher gears (5th and 6th) then I lock out both 5th and 6th until I get back into more level ground. Both 5th and 6th are overdrives anyway in the SD. The SD trans is bulletproof when mated to the 6.2L as it is the same tranny for the 6.7 diesel (and will be for 2017 with a F350).
The ride is firmer than a F150 but it is a work design chassis and I like the firmer ride. I can drive all day towing my Toyhauler trailer and I don't feel beat up at all. I didn't want the extra expense of the 6.7L Diesel and for what I am towing the 6.2L does it with ease.
MPG, this is not a big deal for me as my SD 6.2L is only used for towing. I get on a avg of 10.5mpg towing at no higher than 65 mph, empty right around 12.8 at 75 mph, this is with 4.30 gears.
My F150 towing the same toyhauler trailer was 9mpg and 18 empty with 3.55 gears.
