The 6.2 would make a great car engine but it's not a great truck engine because it has to rev up high to make any power. Look at the 300 I-6, it didn't make a lot of power but down low torque was what made that motor famous. My v10 seems to have quite a bit of ***** for a gasser though, much more then a 5.4 and IMO I much prefer it to the 6.2 that I tried. Of course it gets 9-10 mpg when the 6.2 probably does quite a bit better. As far as actual numbers though, I can't really talk.

I had a f250 with gas 5.4 I had 2 f 150s one was a 07 5.4 and one 2013 eco boost now I stopped screwing around got a 2014 6.7 diesel nothing compares and mileage is way better than any other truck I have owned. I test drove the 6.2 but still are gutless to me in the super duty

I have a 2014 SD with the 6.2 and 3.73 gears, crew cab standard box lariat with about 2500 miles. I pulled our empty 5th wheel about 200 miles and averaged 9.5 mpg. Highway driving not towing I can get up to just about 16 mpg and in town driving I roughly get 9 to 11 mpg. I couldn't even tell my 30' 5th wheel was behind me... Sure beats my 2011 xlt screw 5.0 that I towed our travel trailer with, it's a whole different truck!

Get a diesel.... And make sure it's 4wd. I've had every 250 combo since 2006. And the diesel 4wd out performs and isn't going to beat you to death. I pull a gooseneck for 8 hours a day. And my F-150 5.0 will out pull my F-250 6.2. At least it feels that way, it shifts better, and doesn't beat me to death. The reason I brought this thread back up is I'm surprised no one else has complained about the 6.2 F250. I've had the 6.7 and now had two 6.2 trucks and it's horrible. I'm sick after 30 miles... Literally. My stomach hurts and my elbows and knees kill me... I feel like I got shot out of a canon like a circus freak then landed on a Wal-Mart parking lot.... All are company trucks or I would burn them and go to prison happily if I spent the money on them. My personal F-150 5.0 pulls better any day of the week. It shifts better for one, and doesn't jar me to death. The 6.7 I had didn't do this at all. All were 2wd crew cab long beds. What the hell is wrong with these trucks??? The first 6.2 I got in March was a 2011 with 90k miles on it. I put 60k on it in 4 months. And took it to service several times and was told every time the shocks and suspension are fine. Now I have a 2014 6.2 and it's the same way with 16k miles on it and has been rough since it had no miles on it. What's the difference and what do I need to do to make it ride better short of wrapping it around a telephone pole and going to work for someone that will buy be a Dodge or something lol

I've pulled an empty 18' bumper pull dovetail trailer with the 6.2 and get about 7 miles per gallon. I pull a loaded gooseneck and it's the same. My 30' 5th wheel camper the same. It shifts horribly... It's way worse in tow/haul mode. I've pulled all three trailers with my 5.0 and it has no problems. It rides great and shifts fine. it doesn't peg the rev limiter out and sound like a rod is going through the hood if I don't let off the gas.

i do not under stand why and how people can compare a F150 to a F250 super duty, other then both being fords they are not even remotely the same truck, it is the same thing as comparing a base mustang to a gt500, two totally different animals

In theory, the gt500 is a super car, stock for stock... Comparing it to a mustang, it should perform better and faster. You're right, they aren't the same sports car. Same with the F-150/F-250. The 3/4ton should out pull the F-150... If not, why do they make a bigger truck with more towing capabilities? My F-250 with the 6.2l didn't perform better then my F-150. That's why I was comparing the two. People compare the two all the time. People compare diesel vs gas. Other being then both fuels... They aren't the same thing either.

My 2013 F150 5.0 did everything I asked it to do, my 2015 F250 6.2 does all the same things but way better. One thing that bothers me is that it is hard to find an F250 with a 6.2 and 4.30 gears on a lot, dealers think they won't sale them and when I ordered mine, my sales guy said I won't like the MPG, from everybody I talk to I get 1-1.5 MPG less than a comparable F250 with 3.73.I was not very impressed with the F250 with 6.2 and 3.73 gears, once you drive one with 4.30 gears you will change your mind. Yes they do ride ruff, I changed to 17" wheels, helped a little.

people crack me up cause they are complying that a 8000 lb truck don't get 30 mpg and it rides a little rough, if you want great mileage and a smooth ride buy a Prius, if you want to tow a large amount and do it and not have any issues then buy a SD or if you are a lesser man buy a GM

whatever buddy

to be honest... the Duramax, Allison and independant front suspension in the GM may actually be class leading.

In comparison, I don't think either the Ram or the Ford in the present models are as refined as the Sierra/Silverado HD... but with that said, I'm not saying that it is more durable.

if we are talking "gassers", the 6.2 is the most powerful due to power/weight ration and is proven by a number of reviews on 3/4 tons out there.

To actually answer the OP's question, i.e. mileage when towing... I have a 2900# bumper pull trailer, loaded with a 4400# car, I get 13.8-14.3 when towing, 14.8 truck alone. Truck is a F350, CC, SRW, 3:73's, 4x4, truck has a topper and average speed towing is 75MPH.
