Tire suggestion for '05 250 crew
#1
I have no clue what tire to get. Just got the truck and haven't even put it on road yet. I just want a nice E rated smooth riding tire that will also provide a little grip but nothing too aggressive, or super expensive. Thinking about going a little bigger from 265 to 285 or possibly 295, it is a diesel and has 3.73 gears so shouldn't feel a loss of power. Any recommendations you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.

ive got an 04 f250 4x4 and have run toyo at 285s before they work good ride smoth as can be get great wet traction on the road and overall not bad off road either, to me they worked just as good as bfg ats off road but with better hwy manners. not to bad price wise but not the cheapest either.

I assume he meant Toyo A/T's. I run the A/T's on my F-150 and I love them. My grandpa swears by the Goodyear Duratracs, that's all he runs on his '00 F-350. They seem like a good tire, I'm going to buy them for my next set to see if they're any good.

An E rated 285 is going to be expensive. I have Toyo AT2 Xtremes on both trucks. Both LT285/75R18E and they were around $1450 out the door at Les Schwab.

I appreciate the feedback. I only have 17" wheels they tend to be a little less expensive. But yeah I'm gonna have to compromise for sure as I am definitely on a budget. Also considering 285/65 to stay with stock height. Need to check on availability and prices for that as well. Thanks again.

Ended up going with Michelin Defender from Tire Rack. Rated #1 out of all the tires they had. All season tire but still good feedback on traction. Hate the noise and road feel of the Nittos I put on my F150 so stayed with more road friendly tread. And stayed with stock size as opposed to going bigger as I wanted to keep the same overall powerband for towing and hauling loads with the 3.73 gear. Appreciate y'all's feedback.
