Default 2012 def tank heater issue

Hi guys, my boss just picked up a 2012 f250 diesel king ranch. Beautiful truck, should be back from the offroad shop this week, with a new 2.5" BDS lift, Fox 2.0 shocks, and 35s.
But anyways, engine light came on. I ran my Torque app on it, and I'm getting a code for the DEF tank heater. The research I have done on it, seems to be that the dealer just wants you to go away with this problem. Seems to be happening a lot. Sounds like they just want to clear the code, and send you on your way. Kind of think everybody could be a Ford "tech" nowadays.
So, with trying to avoid the dealership all together, has anyone had this issue yet? What was the solution? I wouldn't be scared to tackle it myself, so what went into fixing it?
Thanks for any help!
