Default Question on new 6.2 f250

I've been looking into a new super duty for some time. I want a regular cab with an 8 foot box, well optioned and I plan on doing a few little mods like 35's but for the most part, nothing wild at all. I plan on hauling a travel trailer, a construction trailer and general daily driver usage. Fuel mileage is not a concern for me honestly, I want something that's reliable and easy to work on without having to worry about **** tanks, turbo failure and a ton of other little things about diesels. I want a gas truck for the simplicity (and the $10,000 less cost).

Anyways, the other day I went to look at new f250's and I wasn't all that impressed. I tried two, a late model with a 5.4 and a new one with a 6.2 for comparison and honestly, I could hardly tell a difference. The 6.2 seemed to have decent power but only at high rpm's, it lacked low end grunt and honestly made me wonder if maybe it's even worth the extra cost over a half ton?

I got thinking, does anyone have a 6.2 powered f250 (or even 350)? Is there anything you have done to get a bit more low end grunt and if so, what? I've had my heart set on a new superduty for awhile. It could be written off as a tax deductible for work purposes but also be a lot of fun to drive. What should I do? I want a simple 8 cylinder gas motor that's (reasonably) simplistic.

Theoretically there's more to go wrong with a gas truck. The new 6.7's will give you more power and better fuel economy. And they fixed the problems with the turbo. **** tank... Your really worried about that?

Is the diesel really worth another $12,000 I guess is the real question. I honestly won't be hauling anything I REALLY need a 3/4 ton for, maybe a bit but nothing my half ton can't do.

I'm also looking at SD 6.2L V8, I was concerned about the low end torque and the fuel mileage. Has anyone added a performance chip to help increase the tow and fuel mileage. It seems the fuel econ is all over the place,,some say 10 mpg's others say 12-13 and others say 14-15. Cant see where there is such a huge swing in mpg's.. anyone offer any ideas?

Looks like a decent torque curve to me. Aren't the SD's like 7-8000lbs? The 6.2 does make more power than the 5.4.

well I was wondering if there was any way to get it better, and what guys are getting now with fuel economy. Just curious if anyone is getting 15 city on these trucks.

The 'good news' is that all the performance stuff for Raptors and Harley's will work (not sure about header fitment in a SD). None of it is cheap but you can go from about a 20hp/tq gain from a tune to about 550hp/510tq N/A with heads/cams from Livernois and a set of headers.

You don't buy a super duty truck for fuel mileage, if you can afford $50,000+ to spend on a truck what's 2-3 mpg in the difference? I'm still strongly considering a gas powered truck and will be speaking with our local dealership for a price and what not Monday. I'm only really interested in a Ford. I'll let you all know how I do.

I had a SD before I went with a F150. I am getting about 16 city (maxtow,6.5bed)on my F150. I wanted to know what people are averaging on there 6.2L to see how often I will be at the pump. My 02 SD was horrible 5.4Triton. I don't think I got 10-11 city. But it seems the 6.2L is not much better. I don't expect prius fuel econ but wanted to see if the newer SD's gas improved from my 5.4.
