Question Possibly buyin an F-250. Need advice

So right now I have a 2006 F150. Love the truck and all but it just isnt cuttin it any more. I have a construction company and am about to start a lawn care company. The problem im running into is that the pulling power of my truck. It has intake, exhause, and tuner so it has enough power but im only gettin about 10mpg with the trailers and 15 with out. Im lookin at gettin one of 2 F-250s both are lifted with 37s. One has the 6.0 and the other the 7.3. I plan on doin tuner and exhause and intake on either one that i get. So my question is the 7.3 a better motor than the 6.0. Also what is the gas milage for both. Please let me know any advice you have. expecially if you have 37s.

The 7.3 is without a doubt the better motor between the two. As far as MPG's...there are quite a few variables but neither one, at least w/ 37's, will give you much more than you are seeing now.

I got a buddy who has a sierra 2500 diesel and 37s with the exhause and tuner and he said he gets about 18 or so and if i were to get that i would be happy as hell. then i would have more pullin power and with the difference in gas vs diesel it would equal about the same amount every month on gas

WOW...18 MPG's w/ 37's. That is great mileage. What year, style, and weight is your buddy's truck? The best I saw out of my 250 CC was around 16. I was running a 6" lift, 37" Toyo M/T's, 4 inch down pipe, MBRP exhaust, tuner, and weight was approx 9200lbs.

Whatever you do...don't follow your friends lead and get a bully dog. They don't do anything to adjust the tranny for the extra horsepower and torque.

If you plan on getting a truck with 37s then I really wouldn't focus on MPG...lol. Most work trucks are best when stock unless your truck is doing double duty for work and play. I highly doubt many diesel trucks will do better than 15MPG with 37s chipped or not.

As for 7.3 or 6.0 it really depends on the history of the truck so keep an eye on the Carfax! I had a 2005 with 37s and the 6.0 was fine, no problems. I did chip it with Banks and I got about 14MPG on average.
