You can probably get at the back of the Holstein cheep. It kind makes ya feel like your out in the outhouse on a hot day in july. And then you take it all apart to fix it when it plugs. LOL

I'm kinda hoping that down the road they find a delete for it so you can straight pipe these things but with all the emissions standards and electronics in these new trucks i think those days are nearing an end..

How much does that def fluid cost? i can't imagine it's cheap..
It's about $8-10 a gallon (I'm sure cheaper in bulk). Average about 2-3 gallons per oil change (5k miles). You would have to deliberately ignore prompts to run out of it. It starts warning you at 800 miles to E, then again and again the lower it gets. Eventually limits you to 65mph til you shut the key off, then to 50, then eventually limited to an idle. Nothing to stress about IMO.

As far as pulling heavy causing problems I haven't personally seen anything being consistent. I see more with the guys that do nothing but short trip never allowing it to regen.

This may be a stupid question, but when you say "regen" are you talking about the computer recalculating based off current conditions, or something else?

Regen is when it burns out extra soot from the way I understood it

Yeah the exhaust filter back pressure is monitored and once is at a certain pressure it dumps fuel into the filter and burns the soot out.

Someone said $10 a gallon and about 3 gallon per 5000 miles but I don't know how accurate those are.

plenty of companies make deletes for all the emission stuff on the 6.7's. you have to run a tuner of some sort to make it run without it though.

the 6.7's have been REALLY good,as far as problems are concerned. our diesel shop at work used to always be busy while 6.0's and 6.4's were under warranty. now that the 6.7 has been out for a few years, the diesel shop is no where near as busy as it used to be. we do get 6.7's in for warranty work, but it is NOTHING like the 6.0 & 6.4's. not even close

Saw a nice mid90s F250 or F350 with the powerstroke for 9500. Sounds expensive till you realized it only had almost 60k on it. It was on craigslist. They are out there.
