Default Maintenance costs

Curiuos what the maintenance cost of f350 diesel is. Trying to decide if I should get a 2016 F350 6.7 now or a F150 next summer. Dont need the extra cap right now .but may later. Have maxed the payload on my 2015 F150 a couple times.
Seeing 16-18,5000 off the 16s here in Canada.

Oil changes cost double with the diesel. If something goes wrong it's alot more money to work on them. At 114k miles on my 2011 f350 the water pump started a slow leak and also the fitting going to the turbo coolant started to leak as well. $1150. Parts are cheap part. Lots of labor cause how tight engine bay is.

Depends on how many miles you drive a year. Maybe $200-300 more per year in oil and filter changes. Anything you buy will be under warranty for a while, the 6.7 will be under warranty longer. The diesel drivetrain appears to be much more reliable than the half ton setups.

Even engine work on the 5.0 or 3.5TT costs a huge amount now. The bays are tight on all of them. Granted the SD is a bit tighter, but the engine warranty is 100k, and I took out an ESP to 125K. It was only 1700 at the dealer for not the premium care but the extra care version. My truck is an XL and the extra care covers all the things I have on my truck, where the premium care was directed more at options I did not have. Operating maintenance should be higher on oil changes and the like but really not enough more to be a deal breaker.

But if you go to your local dealer for "the works", it shouldn't be much more than changing the oil yourself. My dealer gets $100.11 out the door. Wally World gets $94.40 after tax for motorcraft oil/filter. For $6, the dealer can do it while I sit in the a/c and watch.
