Job 1/2s had the old style head gaskets and could be prone to failure, especially with hot tunes. I however didn't have any issues with my 08. If you want a true reliable, problem free 6.4, studs, egr cooler delete, DPF delete, and a mild trans build and you shouldn't have any issue with the truck for a long time on high tunes. The earlier 6.4s were prone to some fuel pump issues but that has seemed to go by the wayside. Check your degas bottle and rad hoses for signs of puking or pressure in the system.

^ yep. Cept the 6.4 trans is strong as hell, actually WAY stronger than the allison or 68 or whatever that tranny is dodge uses. With the 6.4 you don't (usually) need to worry bout messing with the transmission till you start knocking on 650-700 horses or so. Oh and btw, when you do the egr/dpf delete, and tune your going to be around 500 horses already, so it'll be reliable, plus a beast.

If you drive it like it should be driven on hot tunes, you'll eventually need a trans. Mainly just a HD convertor and stronger clutches. My 2010 lasted almost 2 years at the 600+ mark with quite a few pulls and track days. The dodge/chevy trans is a joke. Just for clarification, an egr delete will not yield any additional hp gains, it's simply a reliability/insurance modification. Getting the time bomb egr coolers and dpf off those trucks makes a world of difference in longevity.
Studs are well worth the work as well
