Default Looking to buy SD Soon... What should I look for?

I am going to be gettin an SD in the near future. What concerns should I make sure have been addressed? For example, the 5.4L in the F150 had Cam Phaser issues until 07, 2pc spark plugs, etc. What concerns of the SD should I be aware of to make sure they have been addressed? Thanks!!

What year? Gas v8, v10, or diesel? Super Duties can be pretty hard on the front end so make sure to look that over good.

Prolly lookin towards a diesel, 08-10. I think those are in my price range, from what I have seen. Just didnt know if there were issues like we had w/ the 150 5.4. I'll definitely look the front suspension over real good. Any other tips?

Well just know if you go with the 6.4 PSD you're going to be dealing with the emissions controls (DPF, regens, etc.) so be prepared for that. It's recommended to clean the DPF around 100k or so. Maybe even sooner if it sees a lot of short trips and idling.
That's actually the reason I'd go with a gasser for sure over new emissions diesels but that's just me! I just don't see how all that is good for the engine in any way.

I have a 08 Fx4 f250 cc diesel. Runs great. Towing power and towing stability will blow your mind if your comparing it to a 150 5.4. Downside is cost of ownership in the form of maintenance. 15 quarts of oil and a $10 oil filter every 5K miles. $70 worth of fuel filters every 12K miles. Like the op said above, emissions are tight on them and it hurts fuel economy. Flip side of that is for $1500 in tuner/mods the 6.4 WILL put down over 500 horse and 800 lb torque at the rear wheels.

two things wrong with the 6.4, 1) bad fuel economy, but this can be fixed with a good tuner, not a bullydog or banks, i mean a good tuner like a spartan or H&S black maxx. 2) the 6.4 have the same heads the 6.0 have and the only fix for that problem is headstuds, but they dont have any problems regarding the heads pre 80,000 miles.

Default 2008 f250

I had nothing but problems with my 2008, i live in Louisiana and there were 5 or 6 of us in the same town that had same problems with very early 2008 models, started running bad and no power, fuel pump all injectors and rails were replaced twice...over $20,000 in warranty work and still wasnt right, then i started getting diesel in the oil...got rid of it. I know a lot of people have had good results, and when mine ran good it ran great, but be careful with the early 2008 models and the exhaust re-gen does suck, but can be bypassed with offroad tuner.

the best powerstroke was the 7.3. the only downfall was under valve cover wireing harness and cps. I had one and I wished I had it back, they where not the most powerful but by far reliable, not to mention, no epa crap on them. I would stay away from a 6.0, headgaskets, injectors, coolant puking and egr coolers gave ford a black eye. The 08 6.4 where the worst on economy and had some fuel sytem issues a few. With the 08 the introduction of dpf kill economy even more. 09 and 10s had better ecomony and less issues. The 6.4 is a great platform for power out of all the strokes. The new 6.7 seems to have a limiting factor with the small inlets on the turbos. I had an 11 6.7 that just came out but sold it Saturday due to constant issues and poor mileage. I drove it 6 months to the day and my ecomomy was down to 14 hi way. The maintance costs increase with year models.
