Can I swap rotors from a newer F250 to change bolt pattern?

Default Can I swap rotors from a newer F250 to change bolt pattern?

I've got an '87 F250 with the Dana 44 IFS and it's got the old steel wheels with hub caps (8 lug). There's plenty of people in my area selling their stock tires and rims off their newer model super duty's for dirt cheap. But I know that the newer trucks have a different bolt pattern.

Could I swap out my rotors for those from a newer model year truck and get those cheap wheels to ride on my truck?

It's not the rotors that cause the change. It's the hub itself with the bolt pattern and studs. Your only option would be an adapter changing the bolt pattern

Rotors are just a dist with holes that go onto your lugs, so changing those wouldn't help, you would need whole new hubs but I don't know if they are interchangeable. As said above you would need adapters, I had a wheel fall off while using adapters so I personally will never do adapters again but many people run them without incident.

what they said, rotors don't determine the bolt pattern. The hub does. Good luck getting a newer f250 hub to retrofit to an 87.

Ok. Thanks, everyone. It was just a thought.
I've seen the adapters, but I don't trust 'em.
I'll just stick with the hub caps for now!

You would have to swap everything from the knuckles outboard, and then you would have the inferior non-serviceable bearing.

not sure what take-offs are trading for in your area, but last time I checked you could buy new Alcoa aluminum rims for $125/corner. Good looking rim!
