The f150 is a good truck but dodge will always have the best heavy duty.

Always can always be disproved.

Gm has been hands down the most reliable, least cost to maintain and best all around performer of all my diesel trucks. But this new 2013 ram hd looks like it will give gm a slap in the face. I'm not sure about the new aisin 6 spd but they have been supplying Toyota with transmissions for decades and do manufacture many hd transmissions for busses and large heavy duty trucks. So if they say it will go 100k being abused by 850 ft/lbs of torque. I may need to give it a shot. The only thing I'm not liking is the late availability ( February delivery a at the soonest and that's probably not even in the cummins aisin combo) I will probably still endup buying the new 2013 super duty platinum. In 2 years when I need a new one I may be able to get the ram then.

I might be young but I know what I want in a truck, I waited a little over 2 years to buy my truck, went on diesel sites, then I came on here and bought my truck....90 150 with the best motor ever made....I do my research into ANYTHING before I buy, unless I absolutely need it...I also know from my work a number of guys who own GM or Chrysler products and absolutely either love them, or hate them to ****...That being said, you mentioned that Ford has had 4 differnet power trains? BECAUSE OF EMMISSIONS, the EPA keeps shoving that done the automakers throat and saying do it....as well GM is by far the WOREST at transmissions, regardless of using an "Allision" Transmission, if you tune a GM diesel, you will or can, destroy the tranny, and with Dodge you have to spend another 4 or 5 grand to get the tranny built so it won't break.
I don't know where you get your facts from, but like I said, GM is not the best, they have one of the worest motor designs out there, I've seen many, and I mean many mechanics say "We will NOT work on that engine(ie Duramax, 6.5, 6.2, or how about the 5.7)" or they won't work on the transmission either...and for Dodges, I talked to one guy named Dave, had his own shop, he was working on a 2009 I believe, Dodge RAM 2500, and he said it was one of the biggest POS he has ever had to work on, and this is a guy who has worked on 6.0L, 6.6Ls, 6.4s, certain gas motors, the tranny was ****ed at 165k, the "Check Engine" light came on just after that, and the injectors went too, so before you go bad mouthing Ford, do research, you might not like Ford, but some of us do

Dodge has the motor thats it
As for body, and setup, I'd take a 2001 F250 Super Duty with a 7.3L Powerstroke, with a 6 speed manual, 4x4
Now that is a real mans truck there

I've done more research than you son and owned far more trucks than you. I bought 3 gmc 3500s in 2006 all with the 6.6 LBZ and Allison. All of them had tranny cooler line leaks but that was the only problem on 150 k on all 3. Bought 2 09 job3 f450s. Both of them have had combined repairs totaling over $50,000. And 6 combined months in the shop bc of injectors, alternators, seat tracks , accessory belts, rear seal leaks, CAC connections blowing off, bent push rods (8 times between the 2 trucks), a bad turbo, malfunctioning regeneration adding almost 2 gallons of diesel to the crank case in 3k miles. Neither of them tuned. The 6.4 was a thousand times worse of a lemon than the 6.0. I only have 1 job 1 f350 08 6.4 that hasn't had a problem other than 1 bad turbo out of the box from the dealer. And the increasing oil level from regen that makes you change 15qts oil every 3.5 k miles. The job 1s were built with far more quality than the job3 motors.

As far as the worst transmission you need to step back to the 4spd auto ford put behind the 7.3. They didn't make it to 50k without replacement on the stock 7.3. Fords 2010 5 spd has proven it self. This 6spd has yet to prove itself. There aren't any high torque high hp tunes available for the 6.7. I don't Believe the tunes have gone beyond 1000ft/lbs yet.

You say if I tune my dmax ill blow the trans. Who cares. I'm not tuning it I'm using it to make money. By far the dmax, Allison is a much more reliable system with a greatly reduced maintenance cost compared to ford. What happens when you throw the acc belt on a dmax? Your battery doesn't charge. Whoo hoo. If you throw one on a ford your stuck on the side of the road.

Im not just bad mouthing ford. I speak from experience. Not from my buddy's opinion who happened to hear about his buddys bad Chevy that he cranked up the injection pulse width and changed the injection timing bc they thought it would be cool blow black clouds all over town. And happened to mushroom his con rod bearings. Bc he thought he could be a bad ***. And then took it to some garage mechanic and he refused to work on it because the whole lower end is ruined from your buddy's bad tune.

It's easy to blame the EPA for fords problems. But ram and gm are making it work. But ford can use it as an excuse "just bc I like fords" ( blinded by your brand loyalty). Fords engine problems come from subcontracting engine manufacture to a company with sub standard design quality and manufacturing quality like international harvester. They cut corners and ford bought it bc they could produce the motors cheaper than ford could them selves. They also subcontracted the HPFP, common rail and fuel electronics. Bc they couldn't find a cheap way to design and manufacture them, them selves and it has also bit them in the ***.

You need to step back and check your facts. Bc we aren't talking about what trans is going to hold up to the 1100 ft/lbs it wasn't designed for. We are talking about taking a truck from the dealer lot and driving it for the duration of the factory warranty and getting the most bang for your buck.

As I said before I drive a ford bc I like to. But I'm not foolish enough to let my brand loyalty and my ford lovin buddies blind me from the truth and the actual numbers and stats.

Also ford warranty service is always like pulling teeth to get them to repair what they are obviously responsible for. I thank The Lord above every time I take my fords to service that a very close friend of mine took a job at my local dealer as the service manager. On the other hand my jeep has been a joy to take to service for warranty. Loaner every time. Everything's covered. And my gmc's were the same way.
The one time I took a f450 in for a 4week alternator repair they gave me a Kia forte for a loaner. What the hell am I going to do with that. I gave you a f450. You give me a gocart to preform it's job while its in your shop for 4 weeks. I did manage to get a 10hp snow blower in the trunk and dent the trunk lid for them.

You can defend ford all you want and blame the problems they had on other factors such as EPA regulations but at the end of the day I think we all know that it was Ford's problems. I had a ford service manager actually tell me that he loved the 6.0's because they "kept him in buisness". That's depressing. You drive Ford's as long as you want but you shouldn't bash other brands (specifically GM) when you really have no basis to your arguement. The LBZ was arguably the best diesel made and it will outlast your 7.3, 6.0, 6.4 or 6.7 all day.

Amen, brother! I like my fords because I feel comfortable in one. But my gmc's are bread and butter performers and can not complain about their performance in any way.

As someone who has had terrible luck with my Ford vehicle I am not a big Ford proponent but it's stupid to just blindly defend or bash a brand. Ford has it's strongpoints as well as the others
